You must be familiar with the expression to "shed crocodile tears"
which is use to depict fake sadness. It actually is true, crocodiles actually do weep while feasting (people believe they weep for their preys ).
They actually weep due to physiological reasons, not because they feel sympathy for their prey. crocodile's can froth and bubble while feeding, their lacrimal gland mix with air through the sinuses as a result the eye becomes wet and tears actually falls out.
The crocodile has the most powerful jaw for any animal. The pressure it applies when closing the mouth is three times as hard as that of a lion. They are very aggressive creatures yet the mother crocodile as never bitten the baby crocodile even if is in between the mother's jaw.
This is so because despite the extremely hard skin, crocodile has one of the highest sense organ in the lower jaw. They can different between debris and food in the mouth. as a result, the mother crocodile can actually carry her hatching in her mouth without accidentally crushing them
the back skin is covered in bones (called osteoderms) that reflects arrows, spears and even bullets!
Many times crocodiles stay on the river banks mouth wide open. That is not an aggressive posture, but a way to cool off: they sweat through the mouth!
If you turn on a lantern at night in waters populated by crocodiles, you will see pairs of shiny red dots. These are the crocodiles' eyes which have a layer called tapetum behind their retina, containing crystals that reflect light and make possible the night vision.
